Editorial Policy

techSA publishes practical guides that help people use its browser-based tools and handle everyday digital tasks with care. The purpose is to explain a task clearly, including its limits—not to manufacture expertise or make a tool appear more capable than it is.

How guides are prepared

Guides begin with the user task and the behaviour of the relevant tool. Technical statements are checked against the implementation where possible. When a topic involves tax, payments, security, privacy or a platform rule, the page should link to an appropriate primary source such as official documentation, a government body or the service operator.

Tool testing and limitations

Tool pages should describe the accepted input, the expected result and known practical limits such as file size, unsupported formats, password protection or browser memory. A successful download is not treated as proof that a document, calculation or payment instruction is suitable for a particular formal purpose; readers should review important results and follow the receiving organisation’s requirements.

Updates and corrections

Pages are updated when a material error, a changed tool behaviour or a useful clarification is identified. The visible reviewed date is changed only when the page itself is materially reviewed or revised. If a correction is needed, techSA aims to correct or clarify it on the relevant page rather than silently presenting old information as current.

Independence and advertising

Advertising configuration may be present on the site. It does not determine the conclusions in a guide, and a guide should not contain invented endorsements, results, reviews or claims. Links to an external source are provided for verification, not as a claim of affiliation.
